Newcastle Falcons needed all their grit and determination to edge past Northampton Saints 24-22 on Friday with a last-minute Nili Latu try.

And four of their stars are picked for Flats XV off the back of that performance at Franklin’s Gardens – the best represented Aviva Premiership Rugby side in Flats XV for Round 10.

Hooker Kyle Cooper made eight tackles to earn his spot at hooker and he’s flanked by Exeter Chiefs’ Alec Hepburn and Dan Cole of Leicester Tigers.

Hepburn made 11 tackles in the Chiefs’ 42-29 win over Bath Rugby at Sandy Park while Dan Cole made ten in a losing cause against Wasps Rugby.

Behind the front row, Sean Robinson was a mountain in defence for the Falcons with 14 tackles as his side ended a run of four straight defeats.

Sam Skinner made 41 metres in attack from lock for Exeter Chiefs in addition to his 12 tackles as the Chiefs strengthened their grip on top spot.

Flats’ back row consists of try-scorer Lewis Ludlow, who also made 43 metres and made 15 tackles, Matt Kvesic of Exeter and Wasps’ Nizaam Carr.

The Wasps No.8 scored his side’s first try on Saturday evening and was a constant threat in attack, making 66 metres and beating three Tigers defenders at the Ricoh Arena.

Danny Care continued his impressive form by creating all three of Harlequins’ tries against Saracens, including the match-winning score for Scotland wing Tim Visser.

The scrum-half found Visser and Charlie Walker with cross-field kicks as well as taking a quickly tapped penalty and hacking through with the latter racing onto the loose ball for another score.

Fly-half Billy Burns was similarly influential at Kingsholm as he grabbed a pair of tries and an excellent assist as the Cherry & Whites beat London Irish 39-15.

There are two more Falcons in the backline with try-scoring Sinoti Sinoti, who made 60 metres, on one wing while 13 tackles earned Chris Harris a spot at outside centre.

Brad Barritt, who scored inside two minutes at The Stoop, is named at inside centre with Wasps flyer Christian Wade named on the opposite wing.

Harry Mallinder, who put in another fine performance despite the defeat, is named at full-back.
